In person Reiki
What happens during a treatment?
The basic set up of an in-person session will likely involve a treatment table which you will lie on fully clothed. The practitioner may place a blanket over you, play music, light incense, or use crystals to accompany the treatment.
All forms of Reiki use symbols and the practitioner may draw these in the air to better visualize them.
When the treatment is nearing an end the practitioner will sweep the air above you from head to toe, several times and gently approach you to signal the treatment is over.
However, this is not necessary, but some may hold an image of the symbol in their head, or have it already drawn somewhere to focus on. Some may speak out loud, others may silently connect to both the energy and their client. None of these ways are wrong. Reiki is led by intent, and the different techniques are just an expression of that practitioner’s intent to use the energy for healing.
It is common to start at the top of the body near the head or shoulders of a client.
As we are working with energy it is not necessary to touch the client, however some practitioners will place their hands directly on you during a treatment. They will always ask you if you are comfortable with this and will generally avoid touching areas which can feel uncomfortable (like the throat). During the treatment the practitioner will ask for guidance from Reiki energy, in their own way, and deliver the energy around the client as they feel guided.

Distance ~Healing
This is a difficult concept for most. It is hard to accept that someone may send energy over a distance, to achieve the same result as one would in person (especially if energy healing is something you are skeptical about in the first place). This is understandable.
So, lets approach this from another angle. We all acknowledge Wi-Fi; it is something which exists around us and delivers information to our devices. It is a fact of life for us. We do not need a wire to transmit this energy, but we accept that it can connect with our devices and provide us with information. Reiki works in a similar way, but rather than technology connecting with technology, it is a human connecting with another human.
When a practitioner engages with Reiki energy, it is with intent and focus that they achieve this. It is not a physical practice and we do not require the physical body of a client to be present, to connect with the energy, focus on the idea of that person and healing them.
For this reason it is helpful for the practitioner to have a name and an image of the individual they are trying to assist. Normally, when studying Reiki Level 2, a practitioner will learn the Distance Healing Symbol to assist with the connection, and they will utilise this during a session.
When experiencing a Distance Healing session, normally you will book a specific time with your practitioner, and they will contact you either with a phone call or via text before starting the treatment. They may ask you what you wish to achieve so they can focus on this. You can get yourself comfortable, perhaps lay on your bed and allow the Reiki energy to flow over you.
Whether the recipient believes, or is aware of the Reiki energy being sent, has no effect of the outcome of the treatment. The recipient’s mindset can affect their perception and awareness, but the overall enjoyment can be lessened. So, although it is always recommended being able to sit still and enjoy the energy as it is being sent, it is not essential to the overall value of the treatment outcome.

During a one to one session instruments will be played around you and the room creating a feeling of peace and stillness.
Instruments may also be place on your body so you can feel the vibrations and resonance.
I use a variety of different instruments such as tuning forks , singing bowls , crystal bowls , chimes , and ocean drums.
Unlike a group session, the experience is tailored to your individual needs. At it’s simplest, Sound Therapy can be a very deep and indulgent relaxation session. In today’s world it’s important to find quality ‘me time’. For some of my regular clients, this is the main reason they book their sessions.
If you have any questions about whether this is the right treatment for you, please don't hesitate to reach out and ask.
